Located in downtown Mexico City across the
"Alameda Central" sharing the Avenida Juarez. with the "Palacio de Bellas
Artes", "Casa de los Azulejos" and the "Torre Latinoamericana" is located the Sheraton Centro
Historico, one of the last designs of Pascal Arquitectos.
Pascal Arquitectos was founded in 1979. Architecture, Interior Design, Furniture Design as well as Landscape Architecture are the areas that they have developed through out there professional career.
Occupying an area of 66,000 sqft in what was once the Prado Hotel work of architects Carlos Obregón Santacilia and Mario Pani, is the site where this contemporary project is being
developed. It is a 770,000 sqft construction in 26 levels with 464 rooms a convention center,
boutiques, restaurant, cafeterias as well as spa and heliport.
Pascal Arquitectos has been commissioned the architectural design as well as the
interiors, this implies working from the context to the inside and vice versa in a dialectic relation that at the end will enrich the final
result.
The materials and tectonics used act in a reciprocal way with the user and establish a dialog about the historical references of the site, creating a modern
intervention. The care taken to the detail and the volumetry play an important roll in making this project part of its
context.
Different engineering firms have been involved in consulting us in order to be able to achieve a completely automated building as well as for it to have the capacity to evolve to future technological changes and advancements in the very near future.
The beginning of this construction after so many years of abandonment generates a growth in real estate
prices, making investors and developers interested once again in investing in this area. This will also give back to downtown Mexico City its commercial and social activities which have historically characterized it.
The Hotel will be finished in winter 2001
